The map draws the full river. This route covers a section of it; the description says which.
The Rivière Gens de Terre is an epic wilderness expedition from Cabonga Reservoir to Dépôt Lépine, featuring 40 rapids ranging from R1 to R6 difficulty with 11 portages and 14 campsites. The first 25km section is intermediate-friendly, but the river then enters a spectacular canyon with extremely technical rapids suitable only for advanced paddlers. The scenery is described as fantastic with crystal-clear water and dramatic rock formations. Spring flows from the dam provide reliable but challenging conditions, and the route is maintained by La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve with shuttle services available.
The document describes 40. The map shows 34, because it only places rapids a national survey publishes a coordinate for. The two counts measure different things.

This table publishes no position for any rapid. Where a surveyor's note mentions a kilometre, those are their words quoted as written, and the figure was read off a scanned map: use it to follow their description, not to navigate. Most of these surveys were written in French.
