About

The upper Noire River (upstream section with topographic maps only) represents a remote wilderness paddling experience in one of Quebec's most pristine watersheds. This challenging route requires one portage and features 2 backcountry campsites accessible only to experienced paddlers willing to navigate using detailed topographic maps. The upper reaches flow through untouched boreal forest where encounters with moose, beaver, and various wildlife are common. Due to its remote nature and technical requirements, this route is recommended only for experienced canoeists with strong wilderness navigation skills, best accessed from late May through early September.
