About

The Prévost-Gilbert River system provides an extensive multi-day adventure with 38 rapids ranging from R1-R3, 7 portages, and 6 established campsites through the Appalachian wilderness of Chaudière-Appalaches. This intermediate to advanced route winds through pristine mixed forest landscapes with granite outcrops, beaver ponds, and mountain vistas typical of Quebec's southern Appalachians. The river offers excellent canoe camping opportunities with good spacing between sites and varied whitewater challenges. Spring runoff from late April through June provides optimal conditions, though the route can extend into early summer with adequate rainfall for this longer expedition-style trip.

This table publishes no position for any rapid. Where a surveyor's note mentions a kilometre, those are their words quoted as written, and the figure was read off a scanned map: use it to follow their description, not to navigate. Most of these surveys were written in French.
